BIRMINGHAM WALKATHON RENAMED WALK FOR HARRY!!!

Well done kid!!  You've reached one of your goals!!

My trusty side-kick Kat Frost and I were lucky enough to be one of the select few invited to today's launch at Marco Pierre White's Restaurant in The Cube, and what a lovely afternoon it was.

Set in the stunning Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar, the event was held by BRMB to release the amazingly excited news.

The BRMB Walkathon has been renamed .........

We were offered tea and coffee, followed by sandwiches and wine and given time to mingle and to take in the spectacular views.

We said our hellos to the wonderful Georgie - looking amazing with her new hairdo - and were fortunate enough to meet Harry's older sister, Dani, for the first time.

They say that kids are a reflection of their parents, and I must say that Georgie has obviously done another sterling job here because Dani was a delight.  Brave, smiling, chatty, intelligent - just a lovely girl being there for her Mom, little brother and the rest of her family.

I doubt I would have been that strong.

We were then lucky enough to meet the likes of the delightful Tim Andrews from Hollywood Monster; the legendary ex-blues footballer Michael Johnson and of course our very own Ed James

We were then treated to speeches from Phil Riley, chief executive of BRMB, Radio presenters Foxy and Giuliano, Harry's consultant oncologist Dr Andrew Peet, Acorns chief executive David Strudley, and perhaps most importantly Georgie herself.

There was not a dry eye in the bar.

Talking about how the walk will be raising money for Acorns and the Birmingham Children's Hospital, she stated how she hoped that everyone in Birmingham - even those who have never used Birmingham Children’s Hospital or Acorns - will be inspired to get involved. She continued that, like most families out there, the Moseley family thought it would never happen to them, but it did and they lost their beautiful boy.

I didn't need much convincing, but I thought of Harry, his fight and determination, and soon turned my thoughts to my son, Blake...

I was in.  Kat was also.

Where do we sign up we shouted!! ;)

The walk takes place on Sunday, May 13, following a route around the outer perimeter of the city.

You can find more information on brmb's website here

We shall see you there.  We'll be the ones dressed in Harry t-shirts (I may even walk in a Spongebob Squarepants costume as I know Harry loved him...what do you think???)...

BRMB have also said we can hand out information about the Harry Moseley Ball at the finish line, so what great inspiration for you walkers eh??

Right then, where did I put that gym membership......

Lets raise some money, raise awareness and make it happen!!
